Susie is a lovely cat (although Susie is a boy, he was believed to be a girl as a kitten and the name stuck.) He is nearly 6 years old, neutered and looks in lovely condition, shiny coat, not thin or fat. He was a bit wary of me when I (Cheryl Redfearn) met him, but I still had a stroke and he was happy to stay in the room in the open for a while, he just isn’t used to visitors but I’m sure he would adapt quickly in the right environment. His owner says he is very playful and affectionate and he certainly seemed happy when he was in his owner’s arms but he just simply never has the time for him.
His owner loves him to pieces but feels guilty as he doesn’t believe he can offer Susie the life he deserves. This is a man who loves his cat but is making the selfless decision based on what is best for his pet, regardless of how much it hurts him. He welled up at the thought of Susie leaving him, but Susie is on his own all day and can’t go outside as they live in a small flat. He has a balcony where Susie will happily sit and watch the world go by when his owner is at home, but this isn’t often and he can never really step outside and be a part of it. Though it breaks his heart, his owner talked of Susie going to a loving home with a garden and the attention he deserves and surely this is something we all dream of for our pets.
