RAIN RESCUE

COULD YOU BECOME FOSTERER ?

We are looking for people who would be willing to foster a dog to save it from destruction.

The dogs that are looking for homes, will often come straight from the dog pounds.  We will have an initial assessment of them both from the kennel staff and ourselves - however, its not guaranteed how the dogs will react once they are in a home.

Our fosterers should not have any children younger than 12 - unless we know they do, and can then find a dog suitable for that home situation.

If you are interested in fostering - please email us on admin@rainrescue.co.uk and ask for a 'Foster Application Form' and we will send you one by email or click the link to download Foster_Carer_Application_Rain.doc
Complete your details and return it to us.  We will then keep you on file and should a foster dog come into us that can fit into your home life situation - we will be in touch.

The document shows what we expect from you as a fosterer, and what you can expect from us by way of support.

Please read this document if you are interested in becoming a Foster carer  - Foster Carer Document

Fostering is demanding of your time and ours.  For us to identify a dog suitable for you to foster, get it out of the pound, independently assess it, and bring it to you - all takes valuable time of another volunteer.  We are more than happy to do this to save the dogs life - however, in return we ask that you show commitment and don't hand the dog back to us, immediately something isn't perfect.  These dogs take time to settle in and re-adjust to your home life and rules.  They have usually come from a home with different rules and home life - you need to be patient in your way of explaining your new rules to them.

All members of the family must be 100% committed to wanting a foster dog in the home.  Without this, it leads to friction in the family and the dog possibly being passed on again.

Fostering helps the dog to re-adjust back into a home life, and make it have a better chance of settling in with its new family.
You will receive support throughout your fostering period by a Foster Supporter - This is the person who will be your first point of contact should you have any problems.
It is expected that you will always keep in touch with your foster contact and discuss anything that you are worried about or wish to change.

Should you need reimbursing for dog food - we will do that no problem.
We will pay for all vet fees where they have been approved by one your 'foster supporter'.

Remember - Fostering is a very rewarding experience.  You have played the part in saving a dogs life that was only being destroyed because it had no-where else to go.

We hope you can find the love and the time to volunteer

Thank you

The Rain Rescue Team
