RANI'S LAST PICTURES BEFORE HER FINAL JOURNEY

It is with a very sad heart that we have to make an announcement about Rani today.
After all the well wishers, kind donations and tears shed for Rani - she went into have her operation today.
Her fosterers felt that she was struggling in her everyday life, and desperately needed this tumour removing.
The vets started some of the work on her, and when they came to work on her mouth and teeth - they saw another HUGE tumour towards the back of her throat.  No wonder she was struggling to eat any food and swallow.

The tumours were also growing ones - and so no matter what they did to her in the operation today - the vet advised that these would rapidly return and cause her more discomfort, pain and distress.

So, under the vets recommendation - Val had to make the very hard decision that Rani should be put to sleep to save her from further pain and misery.

This little old lady has warmed many hearts since we have known her.  Her tough fighting spirit  and gutsy determined little character made it all worth while trying to help her. However, tonight - her tired sad and worn out little body - no longer is fighting away with the tumours.

Our only consolation is that ever since that little girl found her way into a dog pound - dumped by owners who couldn't be bothered to pay for her vet treatment and couldn't even have the decency of putting her to sleep rather than abandoning her - this little girls has always been warm, loved and free from pain.

Good night little Rani - and lots of warm wishes to you.
A great big thank you to Val at Halfway Home for taking dogs like Rani under her wing and helping them to recover - no matter what the cost.
And a warm thank you to Rani's lovely foster mum and dad who have looked after her so well over the past few weeks and taken her into their heart and home.

Nite Nite Rani - wherever you are.

All money donated so far will go towards the vet treatment incurred so far and the remainder will be used purely for vet treatment of a another dog in need.

Thank you to all who thought of her.

Rani's Update 9/4/08

Rani's foster mum and dad,  Carole and Martin, report Rani is picking up in herself daily. She went back to vet yesterday 8/04/08 and it has been decided to remove the tumour and her teeth next Tuesday. We are then going to see how Rani pulls through. Rani is in excellent hands with Carole and Martin where she is receiving the best of care, if Rani is going to make it they will do their very best to ensure the little sweetheart is showered with love and affection restoring her faith in us humans.

Rani's Update 5/4/08

She went into the vets this week, and they have run the blood tests - the urine sample has shown some problems. The blood tests came back that she has underlying kidney and liver problems which she is undergoing treatment for  now she must wait and see how she recovers under this treatment, as she is too poor to undergo such a major operation

She is going back to the vets for further tests next tuesday 8th April.

Rani is happy in her foster home, and eating well at the moment.  As she has had the tumour now for obviously so long - it seems to be something that she has learned to live with.
However, no doubt once it is removed - she will feel so much better.

More pics coming soon.

We are doing an appeal for this very special older lady.  This gorgeous toy breed girl was either a stray or was dumped in a pound in Yorkshire.

Val at Halfway Home dog rescue took her in to her rescue, along with some more strays from the pound.  When she came in, Val saw the state of this little girl she was pleased she had come to her - at least because she knew she would get the treatment she needs, but she was sad to know what the cost was going to be.

As soon as RANI went into the kennel - she was given a huge bone to chew on.  Rani picked it up, and even with her teeth hurting and falling out, she dragged the bone back to her bed.

After settling in, Rani was taken to the vets for a check up.  The tumour under her tummy was HORRIFIC - obviously painful and at the threat of being infected. What pain this girl must be in and yet, she shows no aggression to anyone or anything.  She just gets on with it.  Dragging her lump around with her.

We are now doing an appeal to help to pay towards Rani's vet fees.

We have been quoted between £600 and £800 from the vets. They are running blood tests to check her kidneys out, and expecting to do a double Mammary strip - where all her lymph  glands will be removed.  Then all her teeth need to be removed and she will need to be on anti-biotics for quite some time.

Thankfully she is now in a foster home until she recovers - however, after the operation she will be looking for a nice home for the rest of her days.

Please help us by giving any money that you can towards this huge operation - Mark on your donation

RANI APPEAL and we will forward all the money onto Halfway Home Dog rescue to pay towards Rani's treatment.

Thank goodness she found Val at Halfway Home.
