SID'S VET BILLS APPEAL
UPDATE 30/7/08

2/8/08 - Sid is coming on well. After his near death experience last week - when the vets took him off all tablets, he has been gradually turning the corner. He still have terribly smelly breath due to the bad infection in his mouth. His new mom sayshe struggles with any biscuits. He is booked in for his mouth operation on Wednesday 6th August. Due to the kind generosity of our 3 caring doners we have covered his treatment. Thank you all.
A great big thank you to our 3 fantastic donors who have sent in enough money to cover Sids operations - and his initial consultation too. That is just so kind of you.
An update on his progress. He went back to see Hallam vets in Sheffield, who prescribed another course of antibiotics - however the quote for doing his teeth was very high and we couldn't get a discount.
Crookes vets at Handsworth, where our fosterer had originally taken, had offered to do the operation - and would give us a discount - and so the fosterer will bring him over for his operation to be done there. We are so grateful to Crookes for this reduction in the costs towards a rescue dog.
However, on Sunday afternoon, Sid went really strange - and his new mum was worried about him. He seemed to be passing out, and drooling so much. Was it the sun, or was he having a fit? We didn't know. He went back to the vets - who decided we would take him off the anti-biotics as his skin had almost cleared up - and who have booked him in for his operation next week. Hopefully, the problem was just his reaction to the end of the drugs, and maybe he had just had too much sun.
His foster mum was so worried that his time was up, and now that he had just found love and a safe life - he was going to pack in and go to rainbow bridge on his own.
Ha not this time Sid - we are keeping you here for a good while longer
We will update as Sid has his operation - and will hopefully get an updated picture for you on here. His mums not too good with the cameras.

Thank you to the following kind and generous people who have donated, Barbara Jacobsen, Scott Ward, Kristina Wood
Sid - Do you remember the little whippet cross that was picked up from the Sheffield pound? He was taken into foster home, because he was in such a terrible state - his poor thin little body - covered in tick sores - that were so painful and infected. His mouth - a mass of infection. All his little body was a mess and he laid in the pound - nobody would take him on in that state.
One of our lover foster couples saw him, and took him home, where he settled into a soft comfy bed - and asked for nothing.
The vet prescribed anti-biotics, pain killers and possibly a full dental - which is most of his teeth removing. Over the last 2 weeks, he has come round fantastically.
Still a really soft gentle boy - but now he is free from the infection and the pain - he can live again. He is still sore with his mouth, and he has been booked in for his dental this next week. The quote we have had is just over £300.
Sid has now found an owner to take him on - and he is sharing his home with a gorgeous labrador. However, Rain Rescue have still to find the money for his treatment - before she can take him on - and obviously - he wont bring in an adoption donation in case the lady has more vet fees with him.
This is a special appeal for help from you all towards Sid's veterinary fees. All donations greatly appreciated
Thank you
