Digby was originally adopted in 2012 but has sady come back to us and is looking for a new forever home…
“Digby is a white staffie around 5-7 years old and has been castrated.
We got Digby from Rain Rescue around 6 months ago, unfortunately we have to rehome him as we feel we are not around enough during the daytime for him.
Digby is a lovable, funny character. He loves settees, people but not that keen on other animals. He’s no good with cats but he is brilliant with children!
After having Digby for six months we feel he needs someone who can be around more in the day. At the moment he is left between 4 to 6 hours in the day.
He is good whilst we are out of the house. He does jump into the window sill to see me off though and he does like to nosy out of the window.
Digby will need to be walked by someone who is used to handling staffies or larger dogs as he is very strong. When coming across another dog, he will pull towards the dog and other times he will bark and growl at the other dog, but with training Digby could get over these issues.
Digby was found locked in a shed so he likes space.
Digby has 3 walks a day and has a run around the garden. We take him for a walk in the fields but unless we are sure there are no other dogs about we cannot let him off the lead, but he doesn’t mind being walked on the lead. Someone with a large garden will be ideal for him to let off more steam. When we can let him off the lead his recall is excellent. He is not very good at fetch though, he chases the ball but does not bring it back, he prefers to sit and chew it, so you will need more than one ball!
We have only had two episodes of him chewing things. He decided he liked zips and chewed the end of the zips off two of the cushions on the settee but now he doesn’t bother.
We feel that Digby will be suited to a family who are used to either staffies or larger dogs, with someone their most of the day and with a large garden for him to enjoy.
Digby is always willing to give a paw or lie down for a treat. He doesn’t have many teeth but still likes his food. He eats chicken and rice or lamb and rice dry dog food for sensitive stomachs as this suits him best. We don’t give him beef in any form as this upsets him. He likes scramble egg now and again.
I was scared of staffies until I met Digby. He soon changed my mind, he is such a loving dog, and all he wants to do is protect his family.
We will really miss him, but we need to do what is best for him”
