Three dogs saved from a pound – 1 a 15 year old lady

We were asked to help a little dog – riddled with mange in a dog pound – a really nice friendly little girl – who had done no wrong apart from ending up being owned by irresponsible owners.  Mandy was in a terrible state – her hair falling out all over – and sore – oh so sore.

We phoned round and the Wonderful Jerry Green Dog Rescue offered her a space.  We drove up to the pound straight away and took her over to her new place.  She will be visiting the vets today and treated – its not expensive to sort out – just slow  - she should never have been allowed to get into this state – its pure neglect thats caused this for the poor girl.

We were asked if we knew of a little old dog that needed some TLC.  Boy did we know of one.  We went straight into the pound and saw this pathetic geriatric of a dog – asleep in the corner in a crate – her life had turned into a nightmare – gone was her warm cozy home, bed and owner – and she had woken up in a kennel with no security of comfort.  Her owner had died – but she had also been neglected during her last few years.

Her nails were so long she could hardly walk, her teeth were in a terrible terrible state, she was walking in fleas and she was lost – probably even deaf.  Her new owner was no other than a wonderful vet – who wanted something nice to give some love back to.  Mrs Nix took Sindy home – gave her a good bath and deflea.  She then went off to Pets at Home Drakehouse for those poor nails clipping and a quick comb – she was looking better already.

Sunday saw her meeting her new mum and brothers – and the rest – basically is history.

She will get her full vet overhaul – have her bloods checked and be put on pain killers for those aching joints – this is one VERY lucky old girl – oh – did I forget to say   SINDY ENDED UP IN THE DOG POUND AT 15 YEARS OF AGE – what a potential sad ending for a lovely lady.

Finally – we saw ROSE – a gorgeous bullmastiff lady – who had been bred and bred from – producing lots of puppies and pennies for her previous owner.  Now no more a money making machine – she was unwanted – they didn’t even have the decency to keep her – she ended up in a stray kennels.  Poor girl.  So, we got her on board too.

Rose is coming round now.  She is full of Kennel cough – which is making her feel poorly – but she will get the best possible treatment – be wormed and fled and have a full tummy and a warm bed each night.  Soon she will find a new home I’m sure.

Back to the pound tomorrow – getting another 7 out and off to safe spaces.
