Poor Mash hasn’t had a very good time of it lately. He was brought to us from the pound, with very sore skin that had left his back and legs almost hairless. He was also very frightened and unsure of new people and situations when he first came to us too- and could be a little defensive if spooked.
With time, patience and TLC Mash has started to blossom, both physically and mentally and we now feel that the time is right for him to start the search for his forever home. Mash can still be a little worried in new situations, (particularly when restraining for the vet or when he doesn’t want to do something) and will grumble if he is not happy, but this can be managed quite easily with the use of tasty food as a reward and a “hands off” approach to handling. With the people he knows and trusts he is very loving, and enjoys snuggling on the sofa in his foster home, enjoying a nice walk in the sun or playing in the garden. He has also been good with the dogs he has met at the centre, but is not overly bothered about lots of play with them- he definitely prefers to play with his humans!
Mash is looking for a relative quiet home, with patient and caring owners who understand that his grumbling is merely a way of telling them he is unsure, and are happy to work (with the centres support) to build his confidence. He may possibly be OK with a canine companion, and we would prefer a home with older teenage children (if any) who can let him have his space when needed.
Mash is a super little dog, with a great personality. He has been through some rough times lately and would love his luck to turn around. Could you be the one to make this happen?
