ADVERT FOR TRUSTEES
Could you support a well-established local charity by becoming a Trustee? This is a fantastic opportunity to really make a difference to the welfare and lives of animals in need in the Yorkshire area. As a Trustee of RAIN Rescue you will have the chance to help shape the strategic direction of a small and well-respected charity and not only ensure it continues to help animals in need, but also ensure that it promotes high standards of good governance.
RAIN Rescue is a small, independent rescue that provides a place of safety for pets in crisis. We also help pet owners in crisis situations including referrals from Social Services and those facing eviction or financial hardship – being there for owners needing support as well as their pets is a key element of our work. We operate from a leased site in Rotherham. The Centre has facilities for 16 dogs and 16 cats as well as enrichment areas and paddocks. We are extremely proud of our work and strive to achieve the highest animal welfare standards we can within our resources.
We are looking for trustees with organisational leadership experience, preferably at Management Board level, to help us to develop and deliver our strategic vision. In addition to seeking more generalist applications from those with experience of strategic planning and management, project management, risk management and performance management (preferably in the charity sector), we are particularly interested in people who would bring operational or frontline experience in the following key areas: Financial Management (Treasurer); Volunteer Management / Human Resources; Governance (Company Secretary) and Animal Welfare Management. You will naturally need to have a love of dogs and cats and care passionately about their welfare.
The Board of Trustees holds four Board meetings a year, including an AGM. Occasional ongoing Sub-Committees may be established as part of the Board or time limited task and finish groups set up to work on specific projects or issues. It is therefore essential that the new trustees are all based in the Yorkshire area and reasonable expenses will be paid.
