DAX

Dax - is a 14 month old mastiff x. He is a large gentle boy who is having to be rehomed due to no fault of his own. He gets on well with other dogs and has previously lived with a bossy female. He will need exercise morning and night for at least 3/4 of an hour every day. He knows basic commands like sit and paw and walks nicely on the lead. He is full of energy and basically wants to please.

His new home will need to be used to dogs of this size and temperament. Will need to offer a commitment for life for this boy to belong to a home. He is very clean in his kennel and wouldn't mind being left for short periods of time as long as he got his exercise.
To be re homed only with children over 5 due to his size and energy levels. He is already castrated, flead, micro chipped and wormed. A donation is required to the rescue funds for his adoption.

DELLA

Della update 9/8/08
Hi. My name is Della and I'm an absolutely gorgeous girl. I'm so people friendly and gentle. All I want is to please you and be your friend. My favourite games are fetch and tug of war. I'm 2 years old and a German Shepherd cross. I'm not crossed with anything big possibly Greyhound. I'm so easy going and love to chill out in my bed watching you do what you do. I love my fusses and will do anything for treats. Gravy bones are my favourite. ;) I will sit and give paw and my foster mum is teaching me more manners as I don't seem to have been taught any before. I like being off lead and running around playing with the resident dog. I'll come back every time too. Just call and I'll be right with you. I wasn't very keen on my foster mums dog when I first met him but now we get on great. I share my water and food with him and even play together and share my toys. Mum is so proud of my progress. She loves me to pieces and knows that I will make someone a fantastic friend for life.
I do take time to get to know people and trust you but once I do there's no separating us. I'm clean in the house and don't chew or break things that don't belong to me. I get on with Children, small furries and other dogs. I do chase cats though. I only want to play but they don't seem to want to. I don't bite them or bark I only chase. If they stop I stop. I'm just a curious girl. I'm learning that cats aren't to play with from mum and I am getting better. The resident cat was a couple of feet away from me today and I didn't even move. Mum was so pleased with me and I got extra fuss and a treat for being such a good girl. Please give me a chance. I only want someone to love. Call soon. I look forward to meeting you. Della. xx
What a babe - this little girl is around 2 years old. Fully house trained and living in a foster home with another young male dog and will happily play nicely all day long. Settled into the foster home really well and they have fallen for her.
She absolutely loves her toys and will play all day if you have the energy to keep up with her. She will happily be out there and walking for as long as you have the energy to do so. She is learning new rules and boundaries and is eager to learn and respect whilst ever you are consistent in your training. Della is looking for a home where the family won't be leaving her alone for more than 4 hours a day. Where they would exercise her for at least 3/4 hour every single morning, and night. She would be happy as an only dog, or a steady older male castrated dog. She would suit a home with children at least over 8 years old - purely to ensure she gets enough exercise and not knock the children over with her size. She hasn't shown any aggression towards people as she has been assessed.
She loves fuss and cuddles and affection and would be a pleasure to call your own and see this girl blossom into the nice dog she is.
Della is being fostered in Sheffield.

19th August from Bill's foster Mum Bill had to be the saddest looking, most lost and confused, old timer in the pound. Or in any pound! Over the last 10 days Bill has been taken in the car to the vets, (where he got a clean bill of health) and now daily to the park. So what! He can't really see too well and he's quite a deaf little fella but he's happy to go out on his lead and sniff around in the long grass and at other dogs who don't bark near him (I think it just makes him jump!) He loves to say Hi to new people. And kids don't phase him at all. He just never, ever grumbles and seems quite content! He feels his way around the lounge, dining room and kitchen and out to the garden. He knows where the water bowls are and eats all his food when I put it down for him. He lives happily alongside Emma,(my 10 yr old rescue terrier) jumping up to sleep next to her on the sofa when we've gone to bed. He can just about hear us (when we shout at him) and he can make out shapes and light and dark. He doesn't hurt himself if he bumps into anything as he moves quite slowly. His back legs are quite wobbly and unsteady due to just being old. His estimated age is 12 years old. He's never attempted to climb the stairs and he now manages the 2 steep steps into the garden quite well. Which he does very regular in the morning and after his dinner. Good boy for never accidently stepping in anything either! Bill's so quiet and placid and a real delight to have as a house guest. "Old Man" Bill totters around as if he's been here forever.
He wags his stumpy little tail when he can make out our silhouettes or anybody new! And, what really makes me think that he's happy and settled in, he rolls around on his back having a lovely time!!
Bill was collected from the pound today by one of the Rain Foster families. This poor sad guy was very bewildered and lost - and found himself in very strange surroundings. He appears to be totally blind in one eye - and almost blind in the other. At the moment he seems deaf too - but that may be because he is so bewildered.
He is fine if he is sat with you on the sofa for a good cuddle - but once you are gone - he wanders round and bumps into things. Over time, he will settle and we will learn to understand him more. He will be checked over by the vet to see if there is anything we can do to make him more comfortable.
We don't know how old he is as yet - maybe around 9 or 10? He is living with a resident dog and again - seems quite happy and settled.
What a sad boy to be in such terrible circumstances. Its only due to rescues like Rain - that these dogs get out - nobody ever really looks to take them on straight from the pound. We thank you for your donations and support of help to keep us going and to be able to pay for the care that these dogs need.
Bill will be looking for a steady foster home - where they will understand the demands of an older guy - and someone who themselves are maybe chair bound - or unsteady - and want a friend to sit and cuddle with.
Bill is being fostered in Sheffield 09/08/08
Mr Kipling

Mr Kipling A lovely 10 year old one eyed black patterdale terrier who through no fault of his own has come into rescue. Although he only has one eye - this doesn't affect him in the slightest. The eye seems to have been removed ok quite a long time ago.
I am fostering Mr. Kipling in my home because he looked such an angel I didn't want him to have to stay in kennels any longer. He has made himself at home picking his place on the sofa. He gets on well with my other other 4 dogs (both male and female) and is a real sweetie.

At the moment he has eaten too many of his own buns (Mr Kipling bakes exceedingly good cakes - sorry couldn't resist that) and needs to lose a little weight.
He is very calm and will make someone an excellent companion - as I type this he has fallen asleep with his head resting on my feet now that he has investigated my computer. He really enjoys human contact.
The kind of home we are looking for would be with either no, or maybe older children or visiting grandchildren or an adult only household. Just so that he doesn't get tugged around too much. He will need grooming, but his coat will be lovely if looked after properly.
He is micro-chipped , vaccinated and neutered. Can you give him a forever home, he is being fostered in Sheffield. 16/8/08
