RAIN RESCUE

Hendrix - a giant boy - only 2 and a half years old, and already unwanted.
He has been fostered by a family who had 2 small children - and was adorable with them.
He is great to walk on the lead - and gets on with all members of the family as well as other dogs.

Hendrix is already house trained and has been left for up to 3 hours at a time without a problem.
As with all giant breeds - he enjoys going for a walk of around half an hour twice a day - with care being taken when the weather is hot - and he should only be walked in the cool of the day.  He will also happily go out for up to an hour - but won't need hours and hours of exercise.

Grooming is a necessity with dogs of this type. They do get very wet and sludgy and they do moult and shed hairs in the house.  They also do slobber and the slobber will get on your clothes and fly around the walls - this just comes as part of the breed.  However, if you can put up with all this - the St. Bernard is a fantastic friend and great companion.  Hendrix is a great specimen of the breed.

He is boarded in kennels in Rotherham, and a donation and a home check is required. Although Hendrix has lived with young children St Bernard rescue will not rehome Hendrix where there are children under 7.

I can’t say enough about Hendrix, but here’s a starter…….

Hendrix is a full bred St Bernard; he has the common Tan and White coat, together with the thick bushy tail which curls when he’s happy.

Hendrix loves walks and the chance to get out and about, even off the lead. He’s great with other dogs and is friendly too. (You can’t imagine the amount of people who want to stroke him when you’re out walking.) So far, he’s not been car sick.

Hendrix is a playful dog and great to have fun with. Yet for a big dog, he is so gentle. He never bites or snarls or jumps up. This makes him even friendlier and smarter. Trust me, I’ve played tig with him many times and he has always caught me.

We have two young children a little boy 3; girl 2 and we are more than comfortable to leave them alone with him. He even sits with them while they play and protects them (he’d probably lie on their beds if we’d let him!).

Hendrix is house trained and lets you know when he needs to go out.

He’s also protective and a good guard dog.

At feeding time Hendrix usually has dry biscuits with gravy or dog food for a

treat and plenty of fresh water to drink.

‘I’ve had lots of dogs growing up, but Hendrix’s placid, playful and loving

temperament out shines them all.’

Hendrix needs a home which will devote love, time and steadiness to a dog of his stature.

For that home, Hendrix returns love and devotion more than you could ever want from a doggy companion.

We’ll truly miss him.
