JUNE ROUND UP
WOW, what a month ... a phenomenal 40 lives saved. As you can see it's been quite the month for cats with 36 cats taken in and 33 managing to find rescue spaces with our Pawsome Partner charity Blue Cross ... what would we do without them?
Remember we have just 8 cat pens, if we had to wait for places to become available purely on adoption we just would not be able to achieve all that we do. Also big shout out to other local animal rescue Rotherham Rescue Rangers, we are proud to work alongside your team of volunteers to help get these cats and kittens to safety ... we are stronger together.
As for the cats still in our cattery, there are 5 gorgeous pedigrees but they are very poorly cats on a constant stream of medication, vet checks and nursing. Thankfully they are mostly reserved and should be moving onto new homes really soon.
We have a litter of 5 kittens from a home where the number of cats in the home was too many already, and so we offered support alongside the wonderful Cat Smartscheme to rehome these kittens responsibly. They will all be vet checked, vaccinated, microchipping and neutered. Anyone looking for a kitten we'd love to hear from you.
Then we have the adorable Cori and Getty, they've now been in our care for 63 days each, arriving together from a life on the streets. This life made them frightened of people and unsure if they could trust, but slowly and surely they are coming on leaps and bounds, they are now desperately looking for their forever homes, they will make fabulous companions for a patient owner but keep getting over looked in favour of their younger and pedigree peers.
We've also issued 19 neutering and microchipping vouchers in our Snip N Chip scheme, but the pot of funds is running frighteningly low (DONATE HERE) After a meeting with other charities, interested parties and local councillors we are hoping to move the project into a much more focused and co-hesive strategy to tackle some of Rotherham worst affected areas.
And then ... DOGS. Just 4 you say? Wow we wish it was as easy as it sounds. This month we have dealt with such complex medical and behavioural issues that it has put somewhat of a rutt in our capacity to help, but sure enough we returned back to the pounds just the other day ... udpates on newbies to follow.
We are making progress with our retail relocation too, with a potential site identified here in Rotherham - again more details to follow. (Once we know anything definite, you will be the first to know!)
All in all once again we are stretched to the max. Full to bursting. A waiting list longer than we can bare and not enough hours in the day to do all we need to do.
We need your support to keep on going (we have lots of you waiting to volunteer which is fab and we will be in touch real soon about coming to meet our team and find you a part to play!) ... if everyone reading this post donated just £1 we will know we can get through July, we can continue being here for those in desperate need of help.
