July 29, 2018

Hello to you all,

So here it is the second (albeit slightly later than planned) blog post monthly newsletter. It's late because honestly I cannot believe we are at the end of July already, I feel like time is just flying by and there is so much to be done. We are in the thick of planning for Christmas (yes, really!!) here in the office, prepping our 2019 calendar and planning some fabulous fundraising events for autumn / winter. Whilst all that hustle and bustle is happening of course we continue to search for loving homes for the dogs and cats in our care. As I write this 11 dogs, 10 cats and 6 kittens are all waiting patiently in our kennels, cattery and fabulous foster homes waiting for a place to call home.

For Tara that wait has been a long one. In fact a total of 261 days have passed by and she's still waiting to find that special someone. Its for dogs like Tara we strive to continue to be here, we want to make sure those who would have no chance elsewhere get all the love, care and dedication they deserve and no matter how long that takes a loving new home at the end of it all.

The only way we manage to do that is with your support. We'd like to dedicate this newsletter to sharing 5 simple ways you can help homeless dogs and cats on their way to their forever homes and ensure Rain Rescue continues long into the future to be there for those who have no one else to care for them. Recently we've been hearing lots of talk about how rescue centre adoption fees are too high for cats and kittens. Often those sat in rescue can be overlooked for cheaper or even ''free'' alternatives available on selling sites such as Gumtree and Facebook, so we've created the graphic below showing the real cost difference. By adopting a rescue cat not only will you be ensuring you give a homeless cat or kitten a chance at a better life, you will be safe in the knowledge they have all they need to go on to a happy healthy life but not only that you won't be putting your money in the pockets of irresponsible breeders.

Have you checked out our new online shop yet? Our online shop now features virtual gifts for the dogs and cats in our care. What about sending a Stress Relief kit to one of the cats currently awaiting a home ...Catteries can be very stressful for some cats, especially when they have been used to the comforts a home can offer. The gift of a stress relief kit will help us provide the cats in our care with enrichment, fun toys, activities and aids such as Feliway to ensure that their time in rescue is a stress free as possible. For your donation you will receive a personalised thank you, our latest newsletter as well as a Rain Rescue supporter car window sticker.

We're back at Fitzwilliam & Hughes Rotherham for our general knowledge quiz (with a couple of specialist rounds) in aid of Rain Rescue! We've got the best quiz master in town, plus there'll be prizes for the pun-iest quiz name and a raffle. Oh, and did we mention tickets include a glass of prosecco (or non-alcoholic alternative) and a fabulous Rain Rescue pen!
