UPDATE ON INTAKE, ADOPTIONS AND FOSTERING

Our rescue centre remains closed to the public however we think it is important to always work as flexibly as possible and so we’ve been working really hard on developing procedures in order to in some way open up our intake adoption and fostering operations again – whilst of course, doing everything to ensure the safety of our staff, volunteers and the public. Over the next few days we will be rolling out the following ..

INTAKE – Emergency intake only, we have authorised our welfare staff that they can take in animals but ONLY in cases of true emergency. We will seek other ways to help animals in need where possible but where an animal truly has no where else to go and is at risk we will help.

ADOPTIONS – This will only be suitable for a select number of animals, as some of our residents require multiple meetings with their new owners, and it would be better for them to stay with us until restrictions are lifted and they can spend a bit more time with you before going home. If you have expressed interest in any of our current dogs or cats someone will be in touch but PLEASE be patient we are inundated with messages every day and are working with a skeleton team.

FOSTERING – This will again only be suitable for a select number of animals, as some of our residents require multiple meetings with their new owners, and it would be better for them to stay with us until restrictions are lifted and they can spend a bit more time with you before going home. If you have expressed interest in any of our current dogs or cats someone will be in touch but PLEASE be patient we are inundated with messages every day and are working with a skeleton team.

It’s been a huge task in pulling together the logistics of this and I cannot stress how limited it will be in what we can do but it may mean that for some animals their stay in rescue is not unnecessarily long, and that by having the capacity from their space no longer being occupied we may be able help another in need. Don’t worry all our usual matching and screening of applications applies and we will be discussing the long term commitments of adopting a dog or cat with everyone. We ask any one considering getting a pet right now to think of the same.

Applications should be made in the usual way on our website : www.rainrescue.co.uk

PLEASE be patient we are inundated with messages every day and are working with a skeleton team.
